Transportation Magnesium Aluminum Plate Production Application And Replacement
Jul 31, 2018

At present, the application of magnesium sheets in the automotive, rail transit and other industries is still in its infancy, but its market prospects are very broad.

In foreign countries, the BMW 3 Series seat back, Audi A8 and Volkswagen POLO door inner panels, Mercedes-Benz car roof, French high-speed rail seat back, etc. have used magnesium plates with a thickness of 1.5~2mm. .

Magnesium plate with thickness of 1.2~3mm in the specification, used for manufacturing instrument panel, door panel, engine cover, trunk cover, roof panel, transmission cover, seat frame and backrest, etc.; 0.6~3.5mm thickness The product is used to manufacture the upper and lower panels of the honeycomb floor; the inner liner of the train, the thickness of the magnesium plate used for the shelf is 3~5mm; the thickness of the magnesium plate used for the train skirt, seat and berth is 5~7mm; The thickness of the magnesium plate used for the force-bearing parts is 4~12mm.

In 2015, the domestic application of aluminum plates in the fields of automobiles, rail transit, and containers was around 50,000 tons. Considering China's current development trend and the proportion of industry development, it is estimated that by 2020, the demand for aluminum plates in the transportation sector will reach 20%. 10,000 to 300,000 tons (the demand for aluminum for transportation will exceed the current demand for aluminum for construction). Considering the metal replacement rate of 10%, the demand for magnesium sheets in the domestic transportation sector should be reasonable at 5,000 tons/year. By 2020, the demand for magnesium sheets in this field is expected to be as high as 20,000-30,000 tons/ year. If the metal replacement forecast rate of 30% is considered, by 2020, the demand for magnesium sheets in the transportation sector will be as high as 100,000 tons/year.
